The Power of Lithium-Ion: Raymond's Revolutionary Battery Solution
Raymond’s modern lithium-ion batteries offer our customers a power solution that not only meets their operational needs but also enhances efficiency and productivity.
In the fast moving landscape of material handling, the rising popularity of lithium-ion batteries has changed the way many operations do business.
Why Choose Raymond's Lithium-Ion Batteries?
Our lithium-ion batteries offer several key advantages:
-
Limited Maintenance: Our lithium-ion batteries require no watering, emit no harmful emissions, and free up your personnel for value-added activities. They also eliminate the need for a battery changing area, improving your indoor air quality and allowing you to utilize your floor space more effectively.
-
Opportunity and Rapid Charging: Unlike Flooded Lead Acid (FLA) and Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) products, our lithium-ion batteries can be charged at higher rates. They require no cooling period or warm-up delay, maximizing your charging efficiency.
-
Consistent Performance: Our lithium-ion batteries maintain voltage and power delivery even at low states of charge, ensuring consistent performance and increased productivity.
-
Single Battery Operation: In many applications, you can run a single battery, reducing non-value added work and improving your total cost of ownership and operational efficiency.
-
Active Battery Management and Data Liberation: Our lithium-ion batteries are "smart" power sources. Their battery management system (BMS) allows for communication between the battery and the truck, and battery data can be accessed via CANBus on the truck.
-
Longer Useful Life: Our lithium-ion batteries have a 5,000 cycle life, compared with up to 1500 cycles from lead-acid batteries (LAB). In high duty 2-shift applications, they have an expected 7-year life.
Understanding Lithium-Ion Batteries
Not all lithium-ion batteries are created equal. Different chemistries, cycle life, power density, and specific application needs and constraints are important considerations in selecting the optimum battery.
At Raymond, we have qualified our lithium-ion batteries to the applicable UL standards -- UL2271 and UL2580. Additionally, we have met UN transportation standards to ensure compliance while transporting modules and the battery.
Our lithium-ion batteries use either lithium iron phosphate (LFP) or nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) chemistry. NMC chemistry offers superior energy density and is utilized to support high-duty applications. LFP chemistry offers a lower price point but is less energy-dense than NMC products.
Planning for the Future
Raymond is committed to continuous improvement and innovation. We are already working on next-generation enhancements to bring even more value to our customers. Our lithium-ion batteries are designed to support the toughest use cases while maintaining reserve power and flexibility for other applications.
