A pallet shuttle is an automated, independent, high density pallet storage solution that utilizes self-propelled shuttle carriages to transport pallets forward or backward in a racking channel. Shuttles are motor driven and travel along tracks within a storage lane.

When storing products, a lift truck puts pallets in the first slot in a channel and the carriage moves the pallet backward to the furthest unused slot in the rack until the channel is entirely loaded. When pulling pallets, unit loads are collected from their position and moved to the foremost position to be selected by a forklift.

Pallet shuttle solutions are ideal for high volume facilities and make it possible for lift truck operators to automatically store and collect pallets using a forklift mounted controller or systematically through a WMS.

Warehouse operators gain substantial benefits from deep lane AS/RS systems through additional storage capacity inside their buildings. A smaller number of lift truck lanes are required, therefore most of that corridor space is recovered for storage. Carriage mounted sensors allow shuttles to deposit pallets as close together as possible, making the most of storage capacity within each land. Vertical storage capacity is also enhanced because shuttles require very little clearance between levels.
